This is the first new version of CatSpy since about 1 1/2 year. As you might imagine, we were very busy with other tasks and there was no time left for CatSpy.

We now created a new version, implementing some really missing features. Additionally, to cover the costs generated by CatSpy, we converted it to a shareware program now.

Here are the feature details

• Implement flexible event handling system (e.g. play sound or send email)
  
  You will now be able to send a mail or play a sound when a motion has been detected. As always, the new feature is really flexible and powerful.
  
  
• Implemented new UI look & feel
  
  CatSpy now looks like Office 2007 and is now again competitive in terms of UI features and UI handling
• Full online Help file now available
  
  We produced a online help file describing all menus and dialogs of CatSpy as well as some background information concerning motion detection.
  
  
• Implemented a licensing mode to enable shareware distribution
  
  This was necessary because of the license type change.

It took really a long time to get this next release ready for delivery, but finally we managed it. Take a look at the following changes:

• To fix the most reported error - setting video camera parameter not working and not persisted - we got to rewrite this part of the code. Now these settings are implemented directly and CatSpy does not rely on the Windows standard dialogs for this issue.
  
  You now can select: Video Size, FPS, Video Mode, TV-Tuner setting like channel and input type. Crossbar settings to select the input connection. Of course these settings are saved in the CatSpy document and restored on load.
• The second thing were the compressor settings. These are now selectable and will be applied individually for each camera. Additionally they will be saved in the CatSpy document (*)
• Added a count down facility. After starting a camera manually, a count down can be applied. In this time no movement will be recorded. (This is useful if you have to leave the room after activating the camera). You will find the time selection in the "Motion" tab of each camera.
• Added a full screen view. By selecting this, the whole screen will be occupied by the active CatSpy view. No menus, no notification or other windows. (Hint: press ESC to leave this mode).
• The FPS and the pixel count display show now an sliding average. This is useful because we often saw "jumping" numbers here, which made it infeasible to read the "real" value
• fixed a small error in the time scheduler (range of day was wrong)

NOTE: The document-file-format has changed, the old files will not work with the new version !

(*) Unfortunately we got one exception: These settings are only available for VfW compressor filter because only these implement the necessary common dialogs.
